LOUISVILLE, KY. – On Tuesday afternoon, the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) announced Gisselle Garcia as the Wilson/NFCA Division II Pitcher of the Week. For the second time in her accomplished career, she has received the prestigious honor as she is in the middle of an outstanding season for No. 17 Pace Softball.

Garcia is fresh off a week where she posted 35.0 innings pitched, 56 strikeouts, six wins, one save, and a 0.20 earned run average. The Lemon Grove, CA. native was nearly unhittable for opposing lineups as she allowed only one earned run and eight hits throughout her seven appearances in the circle.

Her week included a ten-strikeout no-hitter against the University of New Haven, two separate 13-strikeout outings, and a two-inning save versus Bentley University. Her stellar week in the circle helped the Setters go a perfect 8-0 on the week to increase their win streak to 26 consecutive games (second-best streak in the country).

Through yesterday's games, Garcia leads the NCAA Division II in earned run average (0.64), WHIP (0.63), and hits allowed per seven innings (2.70). Additionally, the pitching sensation ranks in the top ten for shutouts (13), strikeouts per seven innings (10.8), saves (5), and total strikeouts (219).

Garcia's extraordinary season on the diamond has helped catapult the Setters into the national spotlight as the team sits just two wins away from setting a new program record for single-season victories.

With six games remaining in the regular season, Pace looks to wrap up its campaign on a positive note before the conference tournament kicks off on Tuesday, April 29^th.
