Softball Drops Pair at Assumption in NE10 Doubleheader

On Thursday, Pace University Softball competed in a Northeast 10 Conference (NE10) doubleheader against Assumption University at Marois Field. The Blue and Gold dropped a pair of close contests, falling 2–1 in the opener before a 2–0 loss in game two. With the results, Softball moved to 12–12 overall and 5–7 in NE10 play.

Game One
Assumption opened the scoring with a pair of runs, while the Blue and Gold created consistent offensive pressure throughout the game.

Pace totaled nine hits, including a three-hit performance from Riley Jenkins, but was unable to capitalize, leaving 12 runners on base.

The Setters broke through in the seventh inning when a run crossed to cut the deficit to 2–1. Pace brought the tying run into scoring position in the final frame, but Assumption held on to secure the win.

In the circle, Alyssa Smart delivered a strong complete-game effort, allowing two runs on five hits while striking out five batters. The right-hander kept the Blue and Gold within striking distance throughout the contest.

Game Two
Softball was limited offensively in the second game, managing just one hit in a 2–0 loss to Assumption. Riley Jenkins recorded the lone hit for the Blue and Gold, as the Setters struggled to generate scoring opportunities.

Assumption plated a run early and added another later to build a 2–0 lead. Despite the deficit, Pace remained within reach but was unable to mount a late rally.

The Blue and Gold received another solid effort in the circle, allowing just two runs while playing clean defense with no errors. However, the offense could not find its rhythm as Assumption completed the sweep.

Softball returns to the field on Saturday for a Northeast 10 Conference (NE10) doubleheader at Assumption University, with first pitch scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
