PLEASANTVILLE, NY - Pace Softball broke into the rankings of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) in the 25 spot earlier this week and on Wednesday, Apr. 9, the NCAA posted a release highlighting a handful of teams around Division II to keep an eye out for with the tournament looming along the horizon... Pace Softball is listed within the teams mentioned.
The Setters are on a 18-game win streak and they currently sit as the only undefeated team in the Northeast-10 (NE10) with an 8-0 record. During the Blue and Gold's recent success, the squad is in top-10 of three NCAA statistical categories:
ERA (1.74),
WHIP (.98), and
Shutouts (13) while having the 8th toughest schedule in Division II.
From the circle,
Gisselle Garcia consistently leads her team with four NE10 Pitcher of the Week honors while posting a 12-2 record with four saves, a 1.01 ERA, 13 complete games, 10 shut outs, and five no-hitters. She also recorded a perfect game in the 11-0 victory over Queens (N.Y.) with 9 strikeouts, her most in that category is 18 at Fairmont State on 2/28.
Riley Jenkins paces the team at the plate with a .365 (38-104) batting average followed by
Raelle Gorman with .345 (30-87), and
Willa Poplawski with a .340 (33-97). Poplawski sits on top with 22 RBIs for the season along with three home runs as the Setters look to continue their hot streak into their weekend events.
#25 Pace Softball will be on the road this Sunday, Apr. 13, as they prepare to match up with Bentley University in Waltham, MA for a NE10 doubleheader starting at noon.
