NORTH ATTLEBORO, MA. – Pace University Softball saw several key contributors recognized by the Northeast 10 Conference on Wednesday afternoon, as the Setters collected eight total postseason honors following another strong spring for the Blue and Gold. The group was highlighted by
Faith Scally, who earned NE10 Defensive Player of the Year honors and landed on the NE10 All-Defensive Team at second base.
Pace placed two players on the All-NE10 First Team, two on the All-NE10 Second Team, two on the NE10 All-Rookie Team and one on the All-Defensive Team. The group represented several areas of the field, with honorees at first base, second base, third base, designated player and at-large positions.
Scally became the latest Setter to bring home a major NE10 award after being named Defensive Player of the Year and earning All-Defensive Team recognition at second base. A native of Philadelphia, PA., Scally controlled the middle of the diamond for Pace, finishing the regular season with 117 putouts, 96 assists, and a .968 fielding percentage across 220 chances. Scally also helped turn eight double plays, the most by any Setter this season, while starting 51 games for the Blue and Gold.
Riley Jenkins secured First Team All-NE10 honors at first base after remaining one of Pace's most reliable bats. A native of San Diego, CA., Jenkins led the Setters with a .375 batting average while totaling 57 hits, eight doubles, one triple, 24 RBIs, and 16 runs scored. Jenkins also reached base at a .446 clip and posted a .994 fielding percentage with 162 putouts at first base.
Kara King joined Jenkins on the First Team as the designated player and also earned a place on the NE10 All-Rookie Team. A native of Mission Viejo, CA., King made an immediate impact in her first season with the Setters, batting .365 with a team-high 59 hits, seven doubles, 15 RBIs, and 26 runs scored. King also reached base at a .438 mark and gave Pace another consistent presence in the lineup across 49 starts.
Madison Picerno earned Second Team All-NE10 honors at third base after supplying both power and run production for the Blue and Gold. A native of North Babylon, N.Y., Picerno hit .312 across 47 games while totaling 44 hits, seven doubles, three home runs, 25 RBIs, and 21 runs scored. Picerno also added five stolen bases and produced a .374 on-base percentage with 11 walks.
Willa Poplawski added Second Team All-NE10 recognition as an at-large selection following a productive season in the heart of the Pace order. A native of San Clemente, CA., Poplawski started 51 games and batted .349 with 58 hits, a team-high 15 doubles, two triples, two home runs, and 37 RBIs. Poplawski also finished with a .500 slugging percentage and delivered five steals and eight walks.
Ashley Field rounded out Pace's honorees with a spot on the NE10 All-Rookie Team after stepping into a key role during her first collegiate season. A native of Corona, CA., Field batted .366 with 30 hits, nine doubles, 19 RBIs, and 13 runs scored across 29 games. Field was even stronger in conference play, hitting .438 with 21 hits, six doubles, eight RBIs, and a 1.003 OPS.
As a team, Pace's honorees helped drive another strong season for the Blue and Gold, with contributions coming from both veteran leaders and first-year standouts.
