PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Six Setters will have their names etched in the Pace men's lacrosse history books as
Ryan Kemp,
Rafael Rodriguez, Jr.,
Chris Caputo,
Daniel Zabbia,
Maxwell Streety, and
Rowan Kelly have been named as some of the best in all the land this year as all six are United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association All-Americans, the organization announced.
Kemp earned the coveted first-team honor while Rodriguez, Jr. and Caputo earned second-team nods. Kelly, Streety, and Zabbia all earned honorable mention.
Kemp was selected as a USILA First Team All-American, and it is the perfect way to cap off a marvelous year in the Blue and Gold for the grad transfer from Basking Ridge, NJ. Posting the most points in a season since 2019, Kemp turned in 84 points thanks to 55 goals and 29 assists which earned him USILA North Region Co-Offensive Player of the Year honors in addition to first-team all-region and first-team all-conference. Kemp impacted every game this year, recording at least one point in every game. He introduced himself to the Setter faithful in style, firing off six goals and handing out two assists against Molloy University in the season opener on February 28
th, and he took off from there as he registered a total of nine hat tricks. Other standout performances in a sea of strong play include six goals, four assists, and five ground balls in a gritty win for the Setters over American International College. In the regular season meeting against Assumption, Kemp provided give goals and three assists. When the two teams met again, this time in the NE10 Quarterfinals, Kemp fired off six goals and handed out an assist to help lead the Blue and Gold to victory. In the semifinal defeat at the hands of Saint Anselm College, Kemp once again stuffed the stat sheet, tallying four goals, four assists, and four ground balls.
Rodriguez, Jr. was a playmaker for the Setters in all areas of the field. The first-team All-NE10 and All-Region selection finished the year with 26 goals, 11 assists, and 15 ground balls. Rodriguez, Jr. turned in 11 multi-goal games for the Blue and Gold, highlighted by a four-goal, two assists, and two ground ball effort against Wilmington (Del.). Against Southern New Hampshire University, Rodriguez, Jr. was a key distributor in that game, handing out a career-high four assists. In the Setter's first-ever win in NCAA Tournament play, Rodriguez, Jr. tallied two goals to help topple last year's national runner-up, Mercyhurst University, 16-10.
Caputo was the top pole for the Blue and Gold, leading the Setters in caused turnovers with 26. The Second Team All-NE10 and First Team All-Region selection added three assists and 38 ground balls to his final stat line. The Dix Hills, N.Y. native caused multiple turnovers in eight games while causing at least one change of possession in 11 games. He forced five turnovers against Southern New Hampshire. He also caused three turnovers and picked up a trio of ground balls against Saint Rose and Chestnut Hill College. Against Chestnut Hill, he added a pair of assists. He scooped up a season-high five ground balls as well as tacking on another assist against AIC. Caputo secured four ground balls in three different contests against Assumption, Saint Michael's College, and Molloy.
Kelly was another playmaker for the Setters in all sections of the field, finishing second on the team in caused turnovers with 21 to go along with 40 ground balls, four goals, and six assists. Against Georgian Court, Kelly tallied a goal and an assist to go along with a lone ground ball. Against Chestnut Hill, Kelly secured three ground balls as well as hooking up with Kemp for an assist. In the Setters regular season meeting with Adelphi University, Kelly assisted on a goal while causing four Panther turnovers and scooping up a trio of ground balls. Against AIC, Kelly once again got it done on all sides of the field, posting two assists while causing three turnovers and picking up the same amount of ground balls. Against Mercyhurst, Kelly secured three ground balls and forced a Laker turnover in the Setters victory.
Streety was the main man on the X this year and delivered consistent results for the Blue and Gold. A third-team All-NE10 and All-Region selection, Streety finished the 2024 campaign with a face-off percentage of .617 with 258 wins and 170 ground balls. Not afraid to attack the net after a face-off, Streety added eight goals and six assists this year. He set the tone this year in the first game, winning 18 battles at the X while only losing eight and tallying an assist. Against Georgian Court, Streety secured 16 face-off wins while only losing six. On the road against Franklin Pierce, Streety turned in one of the best performances of his career, scoring a goal while only losing one face-off, going 16-17 while securing eight ground balls. Against Adelphi in March, Streety won 14 face-offs while scooping up 11 ground balls. Against Southern New Hampshire and Assumption, Streety corralled 14 and 16 ground balls respectively. Streety won an impressive 25 face-offs against AIC while tacking on an assist. Streety was firing on all cylinders against Mercyhurst, going 21-29 on the X with 12 ground balls, but firing off an impressive four goals and added an assist to help set the tone in the Setters defeat of Mercyhurst.
Zabbia, an honorable mention last year, produced another strong offensive season for the Blue and Gold, finishing with 61 points off 48 goals and 18 assists, while scoring a goal in every game but one. Zabbia added 40 ground balls and 11 cause turnovers. Zabbia picked up where he left off last year, starting the year with three goals against Molloy and four goals and two assists against Wilmington (Del.). Zabbia led the Setters against Chestnut Hill, producing four goals and six ground balls. In the next game, Zabbia switched to a distributor, handing out five assists while scoring twice against Saint Rose. Against Bentley, Zabbia scored four times, but most importantly the game-winning goal in triple overtime. Against the Penmen, Zabbia found the back of the cage six times. He logged six goals one other time, against AIC to help fend off the Yellow Jackets. Against Mercyhurst, Zabbia scored another four goals.
