PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Following one of the most dominant performances of the spring, freshman Gisselle Garcia (Lemon Grove, Calif. /Mater Dei Catholic) of the Pace University softball team has been named the Northeast-10 Conference's Pitcher and Rookie of the Week. 

In a season of sensational outings, Garcia may have registered her best one yet on Sunday. The California native racked up 17 strikeouts in a complete-game win over AIC. She allowed just one run on two hits en route to her fifth straight victory. 
 
Garcia also posted five scoreless innings in a run-rule win at Dominican earlier in the week. She currently owns a 1.59 ERA with 92 strikeouts in 79 innings pitched this season.
 
Garcia and the rest of the Pace softball team will return to action tomorrow with a doubleheader at Southern Connecticut State University at 3 p.m.
