PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – The second-seeded Pace University women's basketball team welcomes Northwest #7 seed Saint Michael's to the Goldstein Fitness Center in the First Round of the Northeast-10 Championship Tournament on Friday at 7 p.m.
The Setters were officially crowned NE10 regular-season champions for the first time in program history on Tuesday night after capturing a share of the Southwest Division title with a victory over Le Moyne, 73-62.
The win also clinched an undefeated 13-0 record for Pace inside the Goldstein Fitness Center, the only team in the conference to achieve the feat this season.
The Blue and Gold defense suffocated the offense of co-divisional champion Le Moyne on Senior Night, holding the Dolphins to 18-of-62 shooting from the field (29.0%).
The Setters enter the tournament as the top defense in the conference, holding their opponents to NE10-best marks of 57.1 points-per-game allowed, and 36.2% opponents' field goal percentage.
The opening-round matchup with Saint Michael's will be a rematch of a Jan. 22 contest which also took place in Pleasantville.
The Setters defeated the Purple Knights, 69-65, behind a 29-point, seven-rebound performance from graduate student
Lauren Schetter (Beacon, N.Y./Beacon High School).
