LGBTQ Pride Hoops Night Coming Up Tomorrow Night for Basketball Doubleheader

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – The Pace University Department of Athletics and Recreation has announced that it will host its first-ever LGBTQ Pride Hoops Night for the men's and women's basketball contests scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 7, versus Southern Connecticut State University at the Goldstein Fitness Center. The women's game will tip-off at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men's game at 7:30 p.m.

"Pride Hoops Night is a night to recognize and show appreciation for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer students, faculty, and staff in our community," said Director of Athletics Mark Brown. "Pace has a highly diverse community, and that is something that we embrace and celebrate."

The first 300 fans in attendance will receive special edition Pride Hoops Night t-shirts (as seen to the left). A portion of the proceeds from ticket sales will go to benefit Center Lane LGBTQ Youth and Community Education Center, Westchester's only lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) youth and community education center.

Pace Alumnus and LGBT activist, Anthony Nicodemo '05 will be honored at halftime with a special community service award for all his efforts both in Westchester and nationwide to promote cultures of acceptance and understanding. Nicodemo is the Head Men's Basketball Coach at Saunders High School in Yonkers.
