Box Score PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – The Setters six-game winning streak was snapped on Saturday when they fell to the nation's 12
th ranked Stonehill Skyhawks in Northeast-10 action by a score of 63-46. Following the loss, Pace now stands at 8-7, 3-5 NE-10 while the Skyhawks advance to 11-1, 8-1 NE-10.
In the opening five minutes of play Stonehill jumped out to a 9-0 lead but the Setters were able to answer with a 10-2 run that was sparked by a pair of
Christina Rubin three-pointers. After the Skyhawks stretched the lead back to four points, senior
Jaclyn Oskam connected on a jumper for her first points of the contest to cut the deficit to just a pair. Stonehill widened the lead to double digits until
Alexa Dietrich scored on a layup to begin seven straight Pace points. The run featured five points by
Kirsten Dodge as she converted a pair of layups, one of which was an and-one. The Setters entered the break trailing by 14 after the Skyhawks piled on five late points.
Following a defensive struggle in the early goings of the second half, C. Rubin again splashed a triple to ignite a 10-4 Pace run that was capped off by an Oskam shot from distance. Minutes later with the Setters trailing by 17, senior
Margo Hackett scored a basket that started six consecutive points to help Pace pull within 11. The Setters added another Oskam deep ball as well as a
Yuni Sher layup down the stretch, but it wasn't enough as Pace fell to Stonehill by double digits.
The Setters were led by Sher, Oskam, and C. Rubin who each netted 11 points. Sher and Oskam both added three assists apiece. Dodge chipped in seven points with four rebounds and a pair of blocks.
Pace returns to the hardwood on Tuesday when they host NE-10 rival Southern New Hampshire at 5:30 p.m.
