PACE SPLITS DOUBLE HEADER WITH BLOOMFIELD

Briarcliff, NY- The Pace University softball team split wins in a doubleheader against non-conference opponent Bloomfield College this afternoon. The Setters lost 5-3 in the first game, and won 9-5 in the second. Pace improve to 8-4 overall, while the Deacons fell to 12-7.

Sabrina Gonzalez (Oxnard, CA/Ventura College) led Pace's offense on the day recording three hits with the likes of singles and doubles, scoring one run.

Rachael McMahon (Corona, CA/Esperanza) was another contributor for the Setters recording two hits, scoring two runs.

Lauren Bell (New Windsor, NY/Newburgh Free) shinned offensively hitting 3-for-6 with a home run, scoring two runs.

Pace drew blood early in the second ballgame taking the lead 2-1 scoring two runs on four hits. Sabrina Gonzalez (Oxnard, CA/Ventura College) doubled to center field with Lauren Bell (New Windsor, NY/Newburgh Free Academy) following with a double of her own, driving in Gonzalez. Next at the dish, Chelsea Shea (Babylon, NY/West Babylon) (Babylon, NY/West Babylon) singled to the shortstop advancing Bell to third. Samantha Garcia (Rancho Cucamonga, CA/Rancho Cucamonga) (Rancho Cucamonga, CA/Rancho Cucamonga) then hit a huge RBI double scoring Bell from third.

In the top of the fourth inning Bloomfield would tie things back up at 2-2. Pace regained the lead once more in the following inning with two runs on two hits. Garcia started things off with a single to center field followed by a huge two run home run from Lana Buchbinder (San Francisco, CA/George Washington). The Setters would drive the final nail into the coffin in the bottom of the fifth inning, scoring five runs on six hits with the likes of four doubles.

Pace would finish the game on top by a score of 9-5

The Setters return to action Tuesday, March 29th when they face off against NE-10 Conference opponent St. Rose for a doubleheader in Albany, NY at 3:00 & 5:00 pm.
