Box Score Winter Park, FL - The Setters were bested this morning 6-1 in their final ballgame in the sunshine state of Florida. Pace fell to 6-7-1 on the season as they lost to NE-10 opponent Stonehill College who improved to 10-5 overall.
Pace took an early, first inning lead scoring one run on one hit, and one error. Tyler Collins (Stamford, CT/Trinity Catholic) (Stamford, CT/Trinity Catholic) got things started by doubling to right field, advancing to third on an errant throw to the infield. With Collins in scoring position, Steven Martinez (Bronx, NY/Archbishop Stepinac) would hit an RBI ground out scoring Collins from third.
Unfortunately for the Setters, their first inning run would be their last. A few scoreless innings would follow, however in the top of the fourth inning Stonehill would take a 2-1 lead on three hits and one error. The Skyhawks improved their lead by one run in the top of the fifth, and then by three in the top of the seventh. The rest of the game saw scoreless baseball from both sides.
Shinning for Pace despite the loss was Tyler Collins (Stamford, CT/Trinity Catholic) who went 2-for-4 at the dish scoring Pace's only run of the game.
Pace returns to action Tuesday, March 22nd when they matchup against NE-10 opponent American International College for their first conference contest in Springfield, MA at 3:30 pm.
