Box Score PACE COMES UP SHORT AGAINST
C.W. POST
PLEASANTVILLE, NY- Pace University's baseball team fell in
non-conference action this afternoon to the Pioneers of C.W. Post.
The Setters now drop to 9-22 overall, while the Pioneers improve to
19-9-1.
A run in both the first and second innings, gave the Pioneers
and early 2-0 lead. The Setters would get on the board in the
bottom of the second when Tyler Hart (Poughquag, NY/Arlington) (Poughquag,
NY/Arlington) who hit a one out double, was driven home by
Kenny Wright (Middle Island, NY/Longwood) (Middle Island, NY/Longwood) who was
able to knock a double of his own to bring the score to 2-1. The
hit for Wreight was his first of three on the day.
Another run by C.W. Post would make the score 3-1 in the top of
the third. Pace would begin to rally back in the home half of the
fourth when Vinny Dammann (Mullica Hill, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) (Mullica Hill, NJ/Gloucester
Catholic) led the inning off with a single. After Dammann
stole second, a single by Wright would score Dammann for
Pace's second run of the game to make it a 3-2 game.
Dammann provided more offense in the bottom of the fifth, when a
double to center field, would score Kyle Turnier (Waterford, CT/Waterford)
(Waterford, CT/Waterford) from first base to tie the game
at three.
Unfortunately, the Pioneers would take the lead in the top half
by scoring two runs to make the score 5-3.
With a runner on in the bottom of the sixth, a potential home
run ball by Hart was robbed by outfielder Mike Callaghan to prevent
the comeback.
Steven D'Angelo (Scotch Plains, NJ/Union Catholic) (Scotch Plains, NJ/Union
Catholic) started on the mound for Pace going five
innings, giving up five runs on seven hits.
The Setters will return to action tomorrow for a Northeast-10
Conference game against Assumption College at 3:30 pm on
Pace's Finnerty Field.
