Box Score BASEBALL FALLS TO SOUTHERN
CONNECTICUT IN REMATCH
PLEASANTVILLE, NY- Pace University's baseball team lost in
Northeast-10 Conference action this afternoon to the Owls of
Southern Connecticut State University 5-0. The Setters fall to 3-8
overall and 0-2 in conference play this season, while the Owls
improve to 8-4-1 overall and 2-0 in conference play.
The game was a pitcher's duel until the top of the sixth
inning when the Owls sparked a three-run rally to break the
offensive silence.
Unfortunately the bats were silent for the most part for the
Setters on the afternoon. The Setters had bases loaded with two out
in the seventh, but Mike Torello (Cheshire, CT/Cheshire) (Cheshire,
CT/Cheshire) would fly out deep to centerfield to end the
inning.
The Owls would tag on two more runs in the eighth inning to put
the game away.
MacKenzie King (Blairstown, NJ/North Warren Regional) (Blairstown, NJ/North Warren
Regional) got the start for Pace, pitching six innings and
giving up three runs on five hits, four walks, and five strikeouts.
The Setters will return to action on Saturday, March 20 when the
team takes on NE-10 opponent Stonehill College at 12 p.m. in a
double header at Pace's Finnerty Field.
