Box Score PACE DROPS SEASON OPENER TO
FLORIDA SOUTHERN
LAKELAND, FL- The Pace University
baseball team opened up its 2010 season with a 19-2 loss to Florida
Southern College in the first game of a four game series.The
Setters start the season 0-1, while the Mocs improve to 8-0 in
their season.
Florida Southern held Pace to only four hits on the day.
Chris Spatkowski (Bristol, CT/Bristol Eastern)
scored the first run for the Setters in the top of the sixth, after
taking advantage of a Florida Southern throwing error. Spatkowski
would go 1 for 3 in the game along with a walk, and a stolen base.
Pace would remain scoreless until the top of the eighth inning
when Vinny Dammann (Mullica Hill, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) (Mullica Hill, NJ/Gloucester
Catholic) took advantage of another throwing error by the
Mocs, scoring the second and final run of the game for Pace.
Junior Chris Camastro (Lagrangeville, NY/Arlington) (Lagrangeville,
NY/Arlington) is given the loss after allowing 10 runs
(five earned) in 2 2/3 innings, on seven hits along with striking
out three to drop to 0-1 on the season.
The Setters return to action tomorrow when they will face off
against Florida Southern College for a doubleheader starting at 3
p.m.
