Box Score Nyack, NY- The Pace women's basketball team won a non-conference matchup over the Warriors of Nyack College by a score of 70-45. With the win, the Setters improve to 10-1 overall, and 5-1 in the Northeast-10, while the Warriors fall to 4-6 overall and 0-2 in the CACC.
Pace got off to a slow start making only one basket in the game's first six minutes. Down 10-2 the Setters would begin to turn it on. In the next four minutes Pace would go on a 6-0 run to cut the deficit to two points. After trading baskets for the next ten minutes, Pace would tie the Warriors at 20 apiece. The next Setter possession, Alison Cleary (New Windsor, NY/Cornwall Central) hit a mid range jumper to take the lead 22-20. Nyack would only score one more time before the half, allowing the Setters to go on a seven point run finishing the half 31-22.
The second half favored Pace greatly. By the halfway point in the second period the Setters would lead as much as 21 points. With time dwindling down the Warriors would not be able to stage a comeback. They would eventually fall by a 25 point margin.
Shinning for the Setters was senior forward Brittany Huggins (Windsor, CT/Windsor) (Windsor, CT/Windsor) with 18 points and six total rebounds. Brittany Shields (Cold Spring, NY/Haldane) would score 17 points and pull down nine rebounds, while Maral Javadifar (Flushing, NY/The Mary Louis Academy) (Flushing, NY/The Mary Louis Academy) scored 11 points and totaled three rebounds. Kerri White (Flushing, NY/Archbishop Molloy) tallied an impressive six steals, six rebounds and two assists.
The Setters return to action Saturday, December 18th when they matchup against non-conference opponent Concordia College in Pleasantville, NY at 1:30 pm. Saturday will be the Setters last game before their winter break.
