#17 RANKED SKYHAWKS FLY PAST SETTERS 75-54

PLEASANTVILLE, NY- The Skyhawks of Stonehill College relied on their hot second half shooting to fly past the Setters of Pace University in Northeast-10 Conference action 75-54 at Pace's Goldstein Fitness Center. The Setters drop to 10-5 overall and 7-4 in the NE-10, while the Skyhawks improve to 15-3 and 10-3 in conference play.

The Skyhawks took control early, building an 21-9 lead midway through the opening period. The Setters would rally back behind Brittany Huggins (Windsor, CT/Windsor) (Windsor, CT/Windsor), who scored all seven points in a mini 7-0 run, capped off by a triple to cut the Setter deficit to five points with 4:56 left in the first half. Stonehill would respond with a three-pointer by Megan Methven and a three-point play by Tania Williams to push the lead back to double digits at 27-16. The Setters would again cut into the lead, closing to seven points and trailed 34-27 at the break.

Pace opened the second half on a promising note as Brittany Shields' (Cold Spring, NY/Haldane) put-back got the Setters to within striking distance at 34-29 less than 30 seconds into the final period. The Skyhawks would pull away with an 18-4 run over the next five minutes to build a 20 point lead at 55-35 with just under 14 minutes left in the game. The Setters would cut the game down to 16 points at 59-43 but could not get any closer as the Skyhawks would rally the lead back to 20 points, winning by 21 points. In the second half, 14 Pace turnovers produced 22 second half Skyhawk points in a pivotal period.

For Pace, Huggins finished with 16 points (11 in the first half), along with six boards in the game. Carol Johnson (New City, NY/Cardinal Spellman) (New City, NY/Cardinal Spellman) came off the bench to chip in 10 points, three rebounds and two steals. Shields and Kristin Connolly (Staten Island, NY/St. Peter's) (Staten Island, NY/St. Peter's) led the Setters with eight rebounds each with Shields adding eight points.

For Stonehill, Emily Rousseau led the Skyhawks with a game-high 22 points on 7-for-10 shooting and 3-of-4 from downtown, while also adding four assists and four steals Kelsey Simonds tallied 18 points and seven caroms, while Bethany Tighe and Methven rounded out the scoring with 10 points apiece.

Pace returns to action with a pair of road game this coming weekend, travelling to Manchester, NH to take on Southern New Hampshire on Saturday, January 24. The next day, the Setters will visit North Andover, MA to square off against the Warriors of Merrimack College. Both Northeast-10 Conference match-ups are scheduled to tip-off at 1:30 p.m.
