PACE DEFEATS THE PURPLE KNIGHTS 70-59

PLEASANTVILLE, NY- Stephanie Klingele (Staten Island, NY/St. John Villa) (Staten Island, NY/St. John Villa) led a balanced Setter scoring attack, totaling 12 of her team-high 16 points in the final period as Pace won their third straight game and four of their last five as they picked up the 70-59 win over the Purple Knights of Saint Michael's College in Northeast-10 Conference action. The Setters improve to 9-15 overall and 8-11 in the NE-10, while the Purple Knights drop to 13-11 and 9-10 in conference play on the season. The Setters, in conjunction with the Women's Basketball Coaches Association and co-sponsored locally by Thornwood's Finnegan's Grill, raised $1,000 on the day towards breast cancer research.

The Setters found their shots early and often as they would shoot a blistering 53.6% (15-for-28) in the opening period. Pace continued to build on their halftime lead, extending their advantage to as much as 24 points that was capped by a Connolly three-point play with 12:59 left in the game. Saint Michael's would slowly chip away as the Setter lead and close the gap to nine points with 49 seconds remaining the game. The Purple Knights would not get any close as Christine Fitzgerald's (San Diego, CA/Mt. Miguel) (San Diego, CA/Mt. Miguel) free throws down the stretch pushed the lead back into double figures and the Setters would post their third consecutive win.
