WOMEN'S BASKETBALL WINS SECOND STRAIGHT; DEFEAT BRYANT 80-76

PLEASANTVILLE, NY - Pace's Taylor Losey (Bristol, CT/Bristol Eastern) (Bristol, CT/Bristol Eastern) led a balanced scoring attack for the Setters as four players reached double figures as Pace defeated the Bulldogs of Bryant 80-76 in Northeast-10 Conference action. The Setters improve to 4-9 overall and 4-5 in the Northeast-10, while the Bulldogs drop to 11-5 and 6-5 in conference play.

The score remained close in early action with Bryant eventually taking a six points lead halfway through the opening period at 23-17. The Setters would rally behind three-pointers by Brittany Huggins (Windsor, CT/Windsor) (Windsor, CT/Windsor) and Stephanie Klingele (Staten Island, NY/St. John Villa) (Staten Island, NY/St. John Villa) to earn a tied game at 25 with 7:34 left in the half. Klingele's jumper a minute later gave the Setters a two-point lead and would not trail the rest of the way and take a 42-38 into the break. Both teams shot well in the opening period as the inside game played a big part of the offenses as Bryant shot 16-for-27 (59.3%), while the Setters shot 18-for-35 (51.4%) in the period.

The Setters opened a double-digit using a 10-0 over a minute and half stretch to take a 56-45 lead with 14 minutes left in the game. Laura Mooney's (Staten Island, NY/St. John Villa) (Staten Island, NY/St. John Villa) trifecta with 11:46 to go gave Pace their biggest lead of the game at 61-49. Bryant would not go quietly as they used a 23-11 run over the next 6:46 to knot the score at 72 with 4:30 left in the game. Kelsey O'Keefe (Warren, MA/Quaboag) would net eight points in the run, including a pair of three-point plays to lead the Bulldogs back even with the Setters.

Both teams would fail to score on their ensuing possessions until the Setters' Stephanie Rossmy (Staten Island, NY/St. John Villa) (Staten Island, NY/St. John Villa) scored on a put back to put Pace up by two with just under three minutes left in the game. Pace would step up their defensive effort and hit their free throws down the stretch as Losey went 6-for-6 at the line to key the Setters scoring in the waning minutes of the game to give Pace the four-point win.

For Pace, Losey led a balanced scoring effort for Pace, netting 19 points, while hitting all 10 of her free throw attempts. Rossmy finished with 18 points on 9-for-11 shooting, while Klingele tallied 13 points and five boards. Mooney totaled 11 points, four rebounds, four assists and three steals.

For Bryant, O'Keefe scored a game-high 25 points, while Cara Johnson (Endicott, NY/Union-Endicott) posted a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Pace returns to action when they travel to Lowell, MA on Saturday, January 10 to take on UMass-Lowell in a Northeast-10 Conference game scheduled for a 2:00 p.m. tip-off. Bryant will play host to Southern New Hampshire University on Wednesday, January 16 at the Chace Center scheduled for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off.
