Box Score BASEBALL DEFEATS SAINT THOMAS AQUINAS
SETTER OFFENSE RAPS OUT 13 HITS ENROUTE TO 10-5 VICTORY
SPARKILL, NY- Ted Mullen's (Madison, CT/Chaote Rosemary Hall) first inning two-run homerun sparked
a Setter offense that scored in each of the first four innings, on
its way to a 10-5 win over Saint Thomas Aquians. The Setters
improve to 23-20 on the season.
In the second inning, Jack Cawley's (Bronx, NY/Iona Prep) two-out double drove in Adam
Harwood, who reached bases on an error by the left fielder. The
Setters struck again in the third as Matt Arburr (Bristol, CT/Bristol Eastern) drew a leadoff
walk and stole second. Neil Ross (Cortland Manor, NY/Dominican College) also walked. Matt Rigoli (Parisppanny, NJ/Parisppanny) ripped a
double to score Arburr and move Ross to third. Aaron Zrenda (Niantic, CT/Loomis Chaffee Prep) singled
to score Ross and Rigoli.
Pace scored single runs in the fourth and the sixth, while Andre
Liscinsky's two-run double in the seventh built the Setters
advantage in the late innings.
Mullen went 2-for-4 with three RBI and a run scoredm while
Cawley, Arburr, Rigoli, Zrenda, and Liscinsky each
had two hits in the game.
Nicholas Demeo went the first 2 1/3 innings, allowing five hits
and three runs (two earned), while registering a pair of
strikeouts. Mackenzie King came on in relief, tossing 4 2.3 innings
of shutout and hitless ball to pick up the win, while fanning
eight. Doug Wenz (Trumbull, CT/Trumbull) (1 1/3) and Michael Sheehy (Pelham, NY/Pelham Memorial) (2/3) closed out the
game.
