Box Score WOMEN'S BASKETBALL LOSES TO ASSUMPTION,

WORCESTER, MA - The Pace University women's basketball team lost
to the Greyhounds of Assumption College, 60-48, in a Northeast-10
Conference match up held at Laska Gym in Worcester, MA. The Setters
fall to 10-3 on the season and 5-3 in the NE-10, while the
Greyhounds improve to 5-7 overall and 3-5 in conference play.
Assumption would take control of the game midway through the
first half with the help of a 14-2 run. Beth Plasski began the run
for the Greyhounds with a layup at 10:39, while Ashley Lambert
capped the run with a three point play through a jumper and a free
throw with 6:05 remaining in the half. Assumption would take a 10
point lead into halftime, 31-21. The Setters were held to
33.3% (9-for-27) shooting from the floor and were 2-for-10 from
beyond the arc in the first frame.
The second half featured much of the same as the Greyhounds
maintained their lead. The Setters were able cut the deficit to
seven points twice, but would never get closer. For the game, Pace
shot 37.3% (19-for-51) from the field and 30% (6-for-20) from
three, while the hosts shot 38.5% (20-for-52) from the field and
33.3% (3-for-9) from three. Free throw shooting would be the key to
the game as the Setters were 4-for-7 from the line, while
Assumption went 17-for-24 from the charity stripe. The Greyhounds
also held the rebounding edge, 41-21.
For the Setters, Stephanie Klingele (Staten Island, NY/St. John Villa) (Staten Island,
NY/St. John Villa) and Hannah Sheppard (Norwich, Conn./Norwich Free Academy) (Norwich,
CT/Norwich Free Academy) led the offense with 11 points
apiece. Sheppard and Ashley Wallace (Oswego, NY/Oswego) (Oswego,
NY/Oswego) each recorded game-highs in rebounds with
seven, while Liran Buchris (Massad, Israel/Great Neck South) (Massad, Israel/Great Neck
South) dished out a game-high seven assists.
Assumption had three players score in double figures led by
Kayla Parker, who had a game-high 15 points. Charde Floyd chipped
in with 13 points, while Plasski added 10 poitns to go along with a
game-high seven rebounds.
The Setters return to action on Saturday, January 6th, when they
play host to the Warriors of Merrimack College, in a Northeast-10
Conference match up. Tip-off is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
