Box Score WOMEN'S BASKETBALL ROLLS PAST BRYANT,
75-64
SMITHFIELD, RI - The Pace University women's
basketball team defeated the Bryant University Bulldogs, 75-64, at
the Chace Center in Smithfield, RI in a Northeast-10 Conference
match-up. The Setters improve to 12-4 overall and 7-4 in the NE-10,
while the Bulldogs fall to 10-6 overall and 6-5 in conference play.
The Setters took control of the game towards the final minutes
of the first half using a 15-2 run to take a 20 point lead heading
into halftime, 49-29. Stephanie Klingele (Staten Island, NY/St. John Villa) (Staten
Island, NY/St. John Villa) and Taylor Losey (Bristol, CT/Bristol Eastern)
(Bristol, CT/Bristol Eastern) each scored six points in
the run. Pace shot 59.4% (19-for-32) from the field and 76.9%
(10-for-13) from three in the first half.
Pace would build their lead by as many as 26 points in the
second half on a bucket by Hannah Sheppard (Norwich, Conn./Norwich Free Academy) (Norwich,
CT/Norwich Free Academy) at the 14:54 mark. The Bulldogs
were able to come back with the help of a 24-4 run, cutting the
lead to six points with 6:12 remaining in the game, but that would
be a close as they would get.
The Setters had three players in double-figures led by Klingele,
who scored a game and career-high 24 points, shooting 4-for-5 from
beyond the arc, while Sheppard and Losey each contributed with 16
points apiece. Ashley Wallace (Oswego, NY/Oswego) (Oswego, NY/Oswego)
recorded a game-high 10 rebounds, to go along with seven points.
Liran Buchris (Massad, Israel/Great Neck South) (Massad, Israel/Great Neck South)
paced the offense dishing out a game-high 10 assists, while also
adding seven points.
For the Bulldogs, Lauren Rubenoff, Kelsey O'Keefe, and Joanna
Skiba all scored 10 points. Bryant was held to 37.5% (24-for-64)
shooting from the field and 25.0% (4-for-16) from three by the
stingy Pace defense. The Setters held the rebounding edge, 39-31.
Pace returns to action on Saturday, January 13th,
when they host the University of Massachusetts - Lowell Riverhawks
in a Northeast-10 Conference match-up. Tip-off is scheduled for
1:30 p.m.
