PLEASANTVILLE, NY – The Pace University women's
basketball team defeated the College of St. Rose, 71-54, in a
Northeast-10 Conference game played at the Goldstein Fitness Center
on the Pleasantville campus of Pace University. The Setters improve
on the year to 19-5 overall and 14-5 in the Northeast-10 while St.
Rose drops to 15-9 overall and 11-8 in conference play.
Pace led early on, 33-23, powered by Andrea
Padelsky's (Lebanon, PA/ Lebanon) and Ashley
Wallace's (Oswego, NY/Oswego) seven points apiece.
Hannah Sheppard (Norwich, Conn./Norwich Free Academy) (Norwich, CT/ Norwich Free
Academy) was solid in the first frame chipping in five
points and grabbing five rebounds. The Golden Knights'
Courtney Ludewig (Shaftsbury, VT/ Mt. Anthony Union) had a
game-high eight points in the first half. Both teams traded baskets
for the first 12 minutes of the first half, which resulted in five
ties and three lead changes. With the game tied at 13-13 at the
10:15 mark, Pace outscored their opponent, 20-to-10 down the
stretch, which featured a 12-to-3 run by the Setters over a six
minute stretch.
Pace opened the second half with a 17-to-6 run capped off by a
Padelsky 3-pointer at the 13:36 mark. Padelsky would finish with a
game-high 15 points, knocking down 5-of-8 from the floor and 3-of-6
from 3-point range. Maria Brown (Frederick, MD/Frederick/UMBC) (Frederick,
MD/Frederick) dropped in nine points in the second half to
finish with 14 points and five rebounds on the game. Pace would
take their biggest lead of the game, 69-50, with 59 seconds
remaining after an 8-0 run, featured a 3-pointer from Padelsky and
a lay-up and a 3-pointer by Jesse Dlabola (Levittown, NY/Holy Trinity/Adelpi Univ.) (Levittown, NY/
Holy Trinity).
For the game, Dlabola tallied 11 points, five assists and six
steals while Wallace missed a double-double by a point, totaling
nine points and 10 rebounds. She also had two blocks and three
steals in the game.
For St. Rose, Mary Lewis (Roxbury, MA/ Tabor Academy) had 11
points, six rebounds and five steals while Ludwig finished with 13
points.
Pace returns to action when they travel to New Haven, Conn. on
Saturday, February 11th to take on the Owls of Southern
Connecticut State University in a Northeast-10 Conference showdown
slated for 1:30 p.m.
