LATE RUN GIVES BENTLEY 67-60 WIN OVER PACE

PLEASANTVILLE, NY – The Pace University women's basketball team lost to Bentley College, 67-60, in a Northeast-10 Conference Tournament quarterfinal game in Pleasantville, NY.  Pace falls to 21-7 overall and will await to see the pairings for the upcoming NCAA Division II Northeast Regional.  Bentley improves to 20-12 overall and advance to the NE-10 Conference Tournament semifinal game on Friday, March 3, 2006.

The 20 wins give Bentley their 24th consecutive season with 20-plus wins, a new NCAA Division II record.  They also advance to the Northeast-10 Conference semifinals for the 24th time in 25 years.

Bentley led at the half, 32-28, behind Lauren Moore's (Bristol, NH/Alvirne) nine points in the first frame.  Moore knocked down 3-of-5 from 3-point range in the first half. She would finish with 15 points and six rebounds on the night. Bentley's Kate Kelley (Hull, MA/Notre Dame Academy) had a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds while Carolyn Gottstein (Albany, NY/Boston College) had 12 points and five rebounds off the bench.  Shannon Kirwan (Melrose, MA/Melrose) finished with 11 points, six rebounds and seven assists.

For Pace, Maria Brown (Frederick, MD/Frederick/UMBC) (Frederick, MD/Frederick) had 13 points, five rebounds and four steals. Brown was 2-for-3 in the first half and 5-of-6 from the free throw line on her way to a nine point first half.  Brown struggled to get open in the second half, shooting just 2-for-5 and failed to make it back to the free throw line.  Hannah Sheppard (Norwich, Conn./Norwich Free Academy) (Norwich, CT/Norwich Free Academy) had nine points and 10 rebounds while Ashley Wallace (Oswego, NY/Oswego) (Oswego, NY/Oswego) had nine points and six rebounds.

Pace used an 8-0 run early in the second half to take a 1-point lead, 38-37, with 14:41 left in regulation.  Pace would use another run, 10-to-3, to take a 50-44 lead with 8:08 on the clock.  The Setters would push their lead to the biggest of the game, 58-51, with 5:08 left in the game.  Pace would go scoreless until the two minute mark as the Falcons used a 16-2 run to close out the game, 67-60. 

Bentley will square off against #1 seed Southern Connecticut State University on the Owls' home court in New Haven, CT on Friday, March 3rd
