Box Score WOMEN'S BASKETBALL CRUISES PAST ADELPHI, 79-49
PLEASANTVILLE, NY- The Pace University women's basketball team
defeated the Panthers of Adelphi University in a non-conference
match-up, by the score of 79-49, tonight at the Goldstein Health,
Fitness and Recreation Center on the Pleasantville campus of Pace
University. The Setters improve their overall record to 7-2, while
the Panthers fall to 3-3 on the season.
The Setters never trailed in the first half and led by as many
as 15 with the help of a 23-9 run which started at the 13:26 mark
and ended 4:46 mark. The run began and ended with a pair of jumpers
by Jauna Andrews (Augusta, Maine/Cony) (Augusta, ME/Cony), who
contributed nine points during the sequence. Pace took a 38-26 lead
into the half with the help of their stingy defense, as they held
Adelphi to 20.7% shooting from the field.
The second half featured much of the same as the first as Pace
pushed their lead to 30, using a 27-10 run to close out the game.
The Setters were led by senior Ashley Wallace (Oswego, NY/Oswego) (Oswego,
NY/Oswego), who tallied a game-high 18 points on 7-for-10
shooting, while recording a team-high seven rebounds. Liran
Buchris (Massad, Israel/Great Neck South),
Stephanie Klingele (Staten Island, NY/St. John Villa) (Staten Island, NY/St. John
Villa) and Andrews all contributed to the offensive
production with 14 points apiece. Buchris also dished out a
game-high nine assists.
For the Panthers, Valentina Ionova had a team-high 14 points,
while Mary Lepore added 10. Serita Lee grabbed a game-high nine
rebounds, to go along with her eight points.
Pace held the rebounding edge over Adelphi, 41-36.
The Setters return to action on Saturday, December
16th, when they travel to Syracuse, NY to take on the
Dolphins of Le Moyne College in a Northeast-10 Conference match-up.
The game is scheduled for a 5:30 pm tip-off.
