PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Pace University Men's Lacrosse delivered a dominant performance on Wednesday, defeating Georgian Court University 21–6 at Northwell Stadium to improve to 2–1 overall on the season. Pace built a strong first-half lead and never allowed Georgian Court to recover, finishing with one of its most complete performances of the young season.
The Blue and Gold set the tone immediately in the first quarter behind an explosive start from
Matt Baldino. Baldino scored three goals in the opening minutes of the contest, striking from multiple angles to quickly push Pace ahead 3–0.
Lee Poulin extended the advantage to 4–0 before the Lions responded with two goals to trim the margin to 4–2.
Pace quickly regained control with another offensive surge.
Will Danowski found the back of the net before
Jake Cenci and
Andrew Watson added goals to stretch the lead to 7–2. Georgian Court added a late tally, but
Declan Landers scored in the final minute of the quarter to give the Setters an 8–3 lead after one.
The Setters continued to build their advantage in the second quarter. Danowski opened the period with a goal off a feed from Landers before Landers scored again to push the lead to 10–4. Baldino added his fourth goal midway through the quarter to make it 11–4, and
Caiden Myers followed with a tally to extend the margin further.
Colin Reese finished a pass from Cenci to make it 13–4, and Danowski capped the half with a man-up goal assisted by Landers as Pace carried a 14–5 lead into halftime.
Pace remained in control during the third quarter as Landers scored early off an assist from Myers to make it 15–5. The Lions added a late goal in the period, but the Setters maintained a comfortable lead entering the final quarter.
The Blue and Gold closed out the afternoon with another offensive push in the fourth. Baldino opened the scoring with his fifth goal of the game before
Shae Linegar finished a feed from
Anthony Esposito. Myers added two goals in the quarter, including a man-up tally assisted by
Alexandre Lafleche, while
Jacob Milano and
Sean Druckenmiller each added late goals to seal the 21–6 victory.
Baldino led all scorers with five goals, while Landers and Myers each finished with three goals and two assists. Danowski added three goals and one assist, and Cenci recorded one goal and two assists.
In goal,
Jack Kern earned the win with two saves in 30 minutes, while
Jimmy Caputo made three saves in 15 minutes,
Hunter Willcox recorded two saves in 11 minutes, and
Sal Santoro played the final four minutes to close out the victory.
Men's Lacrosse returns to Northwell Stadium on Saturday at 3:30 p.m., hosting Wilmington University (Del.).
