Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men’s Soccer Earns Comeback Victory Over D’Youville

In just the second match of its returning season, Pace University Men's Soccer delivered a thrilling comeback in front of its home crowd on Sunday afternoon. The Setters erased an early two-goal deficit to claim a 3-2 victory over D'Youville University at Northwell Stadium, improving to 2-0 on the young campaign.

The Saints opened the scoring in the 17th minute before doubling their lead less than 10 minutes later, putting the Setters in an early 2-0 hole. Pace quickly responded, however, when forward Thiago Lugo converted in the 32nd minute to trim the deficit to 2-1 heading into halftime.

The Blue and Gold carried that momentum into the second half, producing steady pressure before breaking through with back-to-back goals just a minute apart. In the 69th minute, Pietro Carvalho netted the equalizer off a feed from Nikita Dushkevich. Less than 60 seconds later, Daniel Santos delivered the go-ahead strike, finishing a setup from Mohit Nigam to give Pace a 3-2 lead.

From there, the Setters' back line and goalkeeper Joe Zweben held firm to secure the result. Zweben finished with a pair of saves in the full 90 minutes of action. Pace closed the day with eight shots, five of which were on target, while also earning five corner kicks in the second half.

The Setters will be back in action on Wednesday night at home with a match-up against Chestnut Hill College set for a 7:00 p.m. kick-off.
