PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – The Pace University Department of Athletics and Recreation is proud to announce the promotion of
Ron Henefer to Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Communications. In his new role, Henefer will oversee the Athletic Communications Department at Pace, which includes management for all 15 varsity sports and spirit squads. Henefer transitions into this leadership position after serving as an Athletic Communications Assistant at Pace since November 2023.
Henefer has been a member of Pace Athletics for the past two seasons. In that capacity, he served as the primary media contact for several sports – including field hockey, volleyball, cross country, baseball, softball, and esports – while managing a range of sports information duties. His responsibilities as an assistant included daily coordination with coaches and student-athletes, compiling game statistics and records, and developing story ideas and interview content for Pace's athletic programs.
Before joining Pace, Henefer built a strong foundation in sports communications through collegiate and professional experiences. He is a 2023 graduate of Rowan University, where he earned dual bachelor's degrees in Sports Communication and Journalism. During his four years at Rowan, Henefer served as an athletics department intern, assisting with the daily operations of Rowan's sports programs. He also broadened his experience as an intern with Outlyr – a sports and event management company – helping to operate the 2022 and 2023 LPGA ShopRite Classic golf tournaments. In that role, he was responsible for social media engagement, post-tournament recaps, and media center services.
Henefer has contributed to high-profile athletic events and sports media projects. During the 2023 NCAA Ivy League Basketball Championship, he helped manage on-site operations and assisted with game-day statistics. He sharpened his journalism skills as a freelance writer for the
Hammonton Gazette in New Jersey, where he covered local government meetings, and was a contributor to Rowan's student newspaper during his undergraduate years.
A native of Manahawkin, N.J., Henefer brings a diverse background in sports communication to his new role. With experience spanning NCAA Division II athletics at Pace and professional sports events, Henefer is well-prepared to lead the Athletic Communications team and continue showcasing the achievements of Pace University's student-athletes.
