Pace University Marks 35 Years at Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure with Record-Breaking Team Effort

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Pace University proudly continued its longstanding tradition of community service and advocacy, celebrating 35 years of participation in the Susan G. Komen Greater New York City Race for the Cure this past weekend. The Blue and Gold made a powerful impact in Central Park to help raise awareness and funds in the fight against breast cancer.

Despite rainy morning conditions, Pace turned out in full force with an impressive 100 registered team members and more than 130 students from the Pleasantville campus traveling together on four buses. The group included representatives from the cheer and dance teams, softball, women's lacrosse, men's lacrosse, and cross-country programs. Students proudly carried the Pace University banner throughout the walk, bringing energy and enthusiasm that reflected the spirit of the event.

The cheer and dance squads played a leading role in engaging participants by headlining the on-stage warm-up, while multiple teams, including men's lacrosse, women's lacrosse, cross country, and cheer and dance, celebrated finishers at the archway to close out the day. Additionally, the softball program walked the full course together, showcasing the unity of Pace Athletics and its commitment to supporting the cause.

Pace's team set out with a fundraising goal of $2,500, but thanks to the generosity and dedication of the community, the Setters raised a remarkable $4,355.26, well above the initial target.

Pace's impact extended far beyond Central Park, with the university securing three CBS media features that spotlighted its strong presence at the walk. Among the coverage was an appearance on CBS Sunday Morning, where members of the Pace community emphasized the importance of young people joining the fight to end breast cancer.

Adding to the historic milestone, Dr. Ellen Mandel (who has participated in every Komen Greater NYC Race since its inception) once again represented Pace, further cementing the university's connection to the cause.

For the 35th consecutive year, Pace earned recognition as the largest university team at the event.
