CLEVELAND, OH. – Senior Pitcher
Gisselle Garcia was named East Region Pitcher of the Year by the Division 2 Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA), the organization announced on Monday afternoon. The pitching sensation was also named to the East Regional First-Team while senior infielder,
Brianna Shea, garnered Second-Team Honors.
The duo of Garcia and Shea now move on to the D2CCA All-American Ballot as their impressive 2025 campaigns have garnered them national attention in Division II Softball. The pair was also chosen for the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division II All-Region teams last week as they continue to rack up the accolades.
Garcia has been otherworldly in the circle this season, as she currently boasts some of the best pitching statistics in the country. As of today, the Lemon Grove, CA. native holds a 0.71 earned run average with 348 strikeouts, 27 wins, 19 shutouts, and six saves throughout 215.2 innings.
Shea has been a consistent threat on both sides of the field for the Setters, and currently she has a .313 batting average, with 28 runs scored, 31 RBIs, and a team-high 16 walks. Throughout her 54 games this year, the Oceanside, CA. native has racked up 64 total bases with 11 extra-base hits, including two home runs.
Softball's season continues this coming week on Thursday as they match up against Wilmington University of Delaware for a three-game series to determine the winner of the East Super Regional.
