Men's Lacrosse Falls to Adelphi in Semifinal Contest

GARDEN CITY, NY - Northeast-10 (NE10) three seed, Pace Men's Lacrosse, hit the road to Garden City, NY Wednesday evening to play in the semifinal round of the conference postseason tournament verus the two seed, Adelphi University.

After a scoreless first half for the Blue and Gold, the Panthers were able to feature a 7-0 lead at the half to have the Setters fall 10-3 in the night.

Here's What Happened:
  • A lopsided first half favored the Panthers with their seven goals compared to the Setters nil. Throughout the first frame, the Setters got off three shots and for the whole half, 10 as they sat behind their opposers with a seven goal deficit. 
  • Matt Baldino caged the first goal of the contest for the Blue and Gold to kick off the second half of play, 7-1. With Adelphi posting one more of their own in the frame, the squad entered the final stanza trailing by seven once again, 8-1.
  • Jake Cenci and Declan Landers found the back of the net in the fourth for the final two goals of the night for the squad. With that, the Panthers halted the Setters postseason play and handed them the 10-3 defeat.
Box Score Insights:
  • Baldino, Cenci and Landers tallied unassisted goals throughout the contest to lead the scoring offense.
  • Defesenviley, Chris Butler recorded three caused turnovers along with Brian Brennan who had two and two ground balls.
  • Despite the loss, Jack Kern managed to save nine Panthers attempts.

Selection Sunday is looming along the horizon for Pace Men's Lacrosse. Currently, in the most recent release of the Division II Regional Rankings, the Setters sit three in the North Region in hopes for a bid to the NCAA Tournament.
