PLEASANTVILLE, NY - #5 Pace Men's Lacrosse secured massive win over Georgian Court University Wednesday afternoon at Northwell Stadium.
The Setters recorded 67 shots throughout the day and toppled the Lions 24-6 while being led by15 different Blue and Gold scorers.
Here's What Happened:
- Less than a minute into regulation, Matt Balindo continued his game scoring streak and caged the first goal for the Setters. Daniel Zabbia joined the rookie with another goal within mere seconds of each other, 2-0.
- GCU tallied a goal in an attempt to halt the Setter momentum, but Declan Landers allowed the Setters to edge the Lions with a goal of his own for the 3-1 lead. After the Lions recorded their third of the day, Pace went on a 5 point rally and closed out the first with a 10-3 lead.
- Similair to the opening seconds of the first, Preston Kral did in the second with a goal in under a minute into the second quarter, 11-3. The Blue and Gold went on to score five times in the frame and held the Lions to one as they entered halftime in front 15-4.
- Third quarter featured all Setters goals, 22-4, with James Manitone, Zabbia (2), Jackson Bulger, Jake Cenci, Charlie Townsend and Michael Matthews finding the back of the net; Matthews and Townsend featuring their first in their careers.
- The Lions caged consecutive goals during the final frame of the day and Pace piled on two more to run away with a 24-6 non-conference victory.
Box Score Insights:
- Zabbia led the charge with six goals and one assist for seven points followed by Landers with three goals and two assists for five points.
- Townsend recorded three goals of his own with an assist with four points and the following Setters recorded a goal apiece: Baldino, Kral, Manitone, Bulger, Matthews, Jake Cenci, Andrew Llamas, Joey Parisi, Ryan Mimnaugh, Trevor Lamoureux, Timmy Morrow, and Colin Reese.
- Chris Butler recorded two caused turnovers with three ground balls. James Rosellon went 18-22 in faceoffs for 10 ground balls, Jonah White going 2-2, and Dennis Hodge-Boccanfusco 5-7 with four ground balls.
- Jack Kern recorded the win from the cage with eight saves. As a unit, the Setter goalkeep squad recorded 11 saves: Jimmy Caputo with two and Hunter Willcox with one.
