Landers Assists in #9 Pace Toppling NE10 Victory Versus RV Saint Michael's

PLEASANTVILLE, NY - #9 Pace Men's Lacrosse hosted RV Saint Michael's College at Northwell Stadium on Saturday afternoon for a Northeast-10 (NE10) Conference match up.

Out of the gate, the Setters dominated the turf and were led by Declan Landers' career-high performance with five goals for the 18-6 NE10 victory.

Here's What Happened:
  • James Mantione and Preston Kral ignited the day with back-to-back goals for the swift 2-0 lead over the Purple Knights. The opposers had the answer a few minutes later to trail by one, 2-1, but surrendered another goal to the Blue and Gold, this time Colin Reese found the back of the net, 3-1.
  • Landers tallied two of his five at the end of the first as the Setters held a 5-1 advantage after the first 15-minutes of regulation. Will Danowski kept the offensive pressure alive with a second quarter goal, 6-1, and the Purple Knights featured their second of the day soon after, 6-2.  With the Blue and Gold caging three more on top of the Purple Knights one, halftime favored the hosts, 9-3.
  • During the third quarter, Landers gave the Setters a 10-goal lead, 14-4, with three and a half minutes remaining until the final stanza.
  • Saint Michael's was able to hold the Setters to three goals in the fourth while they went on to cage two, but could not surpass the Blue and Gold advantage as Pace secured the 18-6 victory.
Box Score Insights:
  • Landers led the charge with his five goals while tallying six ground balls while Matt Baldino caged three with two ground balls.
  • Danowski and Daniel Zabbie tallied two goals apiece, Danowski adding an assist to his stat line for three points and Zabbia with three.
  • Sean Druckenmiller and Dylan Wolf featured their first collegiate career goal during the fourth quarter.
  • Ryan Mimnaugh paced the defensive end with five caused turnovers followed by Chris Butler with four.
  • Jack Kern received the win in the cage with nine saves and Hunter Willcox replaced the junior in the final stanza for two saves.
