Alexander Headlines as the D2CCA East Region Player of the Year

PLEASANTVILLE, NY - Tray Alexander has etched his name in Pace Men's Basketball history throughout his career as a Setter. Just this season alone, he is second in all of Division II in respective categories, became the all-time leader for most assists in a single season (267), selected as the first Pace Men's Basketball player to be crowned Northeast-10 (NE10) Player of the Year, and has been a staple in leading the team to their first ever NE10 Championship contest.

On Friday afternoon, the NCAA Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA) officially selected the Freeport, NY native as the East Region Player of the Year which marks another first for the Setters Men's Basketball program. With that, he also garners a D2CCA First Team All-Region recognition.

Ahead of the NCAA East Regional Tournament, which is set to begin on Saturday Mar. 15, Alexander leads the team averaging 16.4 points, 8.6 assists, and 3.0 steals while grabbing 3.7 rebounds. The graduate student shot 45.4% (206-454) from the field during his 1,184 minutes played for the Blue and Gold.

The Setters are the four seed in the upcoming tournament and are scheduled to hit the big stage on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. when they match up with St. Thomas Aquinas College (STAC) in Amherst, NY.

The process concludes with All-American selections announced later this month. The Division II CCA encourages and promotes Division II athletics and high standards of sportsmanship as important elements of higher education. The CCA is a key communications link among the conferences as they discuss views, policies, and regulations that impact Division II intercollegiate athletics. It also works closely with the NCAA as a communications channel to NCAA Division II member colleges and universities.
