Baldino Cages Three in Non-Conference Victory at Wilmington (Del.)

WILMINGTON, DE - #6 Pace Men's Lacrosse hit the road for the first time this season Saturday afternoon to play non-conference opponents, Wilmington (Del.).

In just his second collegiate career game, Matt Baldino led the Blue and Gold to victory with five points on three goals and two assists. The Setters captured the 13-8 victory to improve to 2-0 to start the season.

Here's What Happened:
  • Preston Kral swiftly caged the first goal of the game in under a minute into regulation, however, it didn't take long for the hosts to create a clean slate and ultimately snag the 2-1 lead.
  • Baldino posted his first career goal for the tie at two and Daniel Zabbia caged the go-ahead point, 3-2, three minutes later to end the first quarter.
  • The Setter momentum continued through the second when they rallied two goals in the second quarter and entered halftime leading 5-3.
  • With five goals in the third, the Setters put the game away with the help of Kral, Zabbia, Jackson Bulger, Trevor Lamoureux, and Colin Reese for the 10-4 advantage with one frame left in the day.
  • Baldino recorded his final two goals in a consecutive fashion in the fourth to extend the Setter lead 12-4. The Wildcats were able to keep the Setters to 13 goals while they rallied four to trail 13-8, but time fizzled out and the Setters came out victorious.
Box Score Insights:
  • Baldino led the charge with five points on his three goals and two assists while also recording a ground ball. Kral was next with four points on two goals and two assists.
  • Reese and Zabbia ended the day with two goals apiece.
  • Osei Adoma led the charge with four ground balls while Brian Brennan tallied three caused turnovers.
  • Jack Kern posted another win inside the goal for a 2-0 record with 9 saves.

#6 Men's Lacrosse will return to Northwell Stadium next Wednesday, March 5, for another non-conference match up with Georgian Court University at 3:30pm.
