PLEASANTVILLE, NY - On Monday, Sept. 16, a former Pace University Baseball All-American Pitcher,
Dan Wirchansky, clinched the best earned run average (ERA) in the Texas League at the end of their regular season for the Arkansas Travelers, a double-A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners.
With a 2.84 ERA, Wirchansky has been unstoppable for the organization. In June, he was awarded
Pitcher of the Month for an outstanding 0.64 ERA, with 16 strikeouts in 28.1 innings and did not surrender an earned run in four of his five starts. Today, as they reached the end of the regular season, the Setter Alumni finalized an 8-6 record, his crowned 2.84 ERA, 111.0 IP and 89 strikeouts.
Wirchansky's professional career presented numerous setbacks such as failed physicals due to a high injury risk from two Major League organizations to getting Tommy John surgery without having a torn ligament. With perseverance, he went on to pitch in multiple leagues throughout a three-year span: Mexico, Puerto Rico, Dominican, the Atlantic League, and the Caribbean Series. Not long after the Caribbean Series, he was signed in
February of 2024 to the Seattle Mariners and joined the Travelers, in which he soared to new heights.
Wirchansky and the Travelers clinched a
postseason bid after defeating the Corpus Christi Hooks, 6-1, and will be hosting game one of the North Series on Sept. 17 at 6:35pm versus the Springfield Cardinals.
