Danny Wirchansky Earns Texas League Pitcher of the Month for June

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Danny Wirchansky, former pitcher for the Setters, earned the Texas League Pitcher of the Month award from Minor League Baseball. In his first year with the Arkansas Travelers (AA affiliate of the Seattle Mariners), Wirchansky has made a statement with his new squad, and in June he took home honors for the top pitcher in the Texas League.

In five starts on the mound in June, the 27-year-old southpaw dominated for the Travelers. Wirchansky produced an outstanding 0.64 earned run average with 16 strikeouts over 28.1 innings. The Stony Point, N.Y. native held his opponents to a .134 batting average and posted two wins in June. In four out of his five starts, he did not surrender an earned run helping him earn the best ERA (0.64), and WHIP (0.60), in the Texas League.

This season, Wirchansky is one of the top arms for the Travelers as he currently has a 2.91 ERA with 49 strikeouts throughout 65.0 innings. He holds a 4-3 record in 14 games as the first half of the regular season nears its end.

After suffering multiple setbacks in his career, Wirchansky has made the most of his second chance as he continues to revive his career in the minor leagues. Moving forward, the lefty will look to improve upon his profound success in hopes of being promoted to the next level.
