.WALTHAM, MA. – Playing in a constant downpour, the No. 11 Pace University men's lacrosse team and No. 13 Bentley University Falcons needed overtime to settle Wednesday night's contest. A goal from
Daniel Zabbia in the third overtime was the difference as Pace walked away with an 11-10 win.
Pace gets back on track and improves to 7-1 overall and 3-1 in Northeast 10 play. Pace returns to action this Saturday at Northwell Stadium, hosting Southern New Hampshire University.
Pace was incredibly efficient in the first half, scoring seven goals on seven on-target shots to take a 7-6 lead into halftime, highlighted by a first-half hat trick from Zabbia.
It was a quiet third quarter as the only two goals that were put on the board were in favor of the Setters as
Rafael Rodriguez, Jr. provided both to grow the lead to 9-6 entering the final 15 minutes.
Bentley would not go away, getting those two Rodriguez, Jr. goals back to open the fourth and while some space was created by
Ryan Kemp. Bentley managed to tie the game up with 24 seconds remaining to force the extra time.
Both sides got good looks at the net in the overtime periods, but Zabbia created space and bounced a shot into the goal to seal the win in favor of the Setters.
Zabbia led the Setters with four goals on six shots and four on target.
Jack Kern held firm in between the pipes, making 15 saves this evening.
