NEW YORK, N.Y. – Tray Alexander and Bryan Powell of the Pace University men's basketball team have been named First Team All-Metropolitan by the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association (MBWA), the organization announced on Thursday.

This is the first time both players have earned the first team nod, with Powell earning the second team selection last year.

Powell, a graduate student from Middletown, N.Y., finished the season as Pace's leading scorer and rebounder, pouring in an impressive 18.5 points per game to go along with 5.2 boards a game in 34 minutes a game. He posted an impressive 40 points against Franklin Pierce University in a 93-80 win at Goldstein Fitness Center while adding nine rebounds and four assists in the contest. Powell crossed the double-figure mark in all but two contests and posting 20 points in nine separate affairs.

Alexander, who just finished his first year in the Blue and Gold, made his impact felt immediately as the floor general for head coach Matt Healing. Alexander dished out 7.2 helpers per game to go along with 13 points and 4.6 rebounds per game, which was second on the team. Alexander etched his name in the Pace men's basketball on Feb. 14 in overtime victory against Assumption University, posting the program's first triple-double with a final line of 18 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists. Alexander finished the regular season as the nation's top assist man, with his 7.2 assists per game being the top mark in all of NCAA DII.
