RINDGE, NH. – The Pace University men's lacrosse team only lost five faceoffs, going 26-31 on the X, en route to a 19-8 road Northeast 10 win over Franklin Pierce University Saturday afternoon.
The Setters stay perfect, improving to 6-0 and 2-0 in NE10 play. Up next for the Setters is Adelphi University, who will come to Northwell Stadium on Friday, Mar. 29 at 7 p.m.
Pace scored the first two goals of the game within 30 seconds of each other.
Rafael Rodriguez, Jr. scored the first goal of the game in the first two minutes.
Maxwell Streety won the ensuing faceoff with ease, which set up
Daniel Zabbia to convert right in front of the Raven's net to take an early 2-0 lead.
FPU got on the board, but what followed was three straight-setter goals from
Declan Landers,
Colin Reese and Streety to grow the lead to 5-1.
The Ravens looked to have some momentum heading into the second quarter, scoring what appeared to be the final two goals of the quarter, but with four seconds left, Ryan Kemo took a pass from Rodriguez, Jr and buried a shot to take a 6-3 lead into the second quarter.
Pace outscored FPU 5-1 in the second quarter with a pair of goals from
Trevor Lamoureux, and goals from Kemp, Reese, and
Preston Kral to take a comfortable 11-4 lead into halftime.
Four of the first five goals of the third quarter went in favor of the Blue and Gold to get the lead up to double-digits, 15-5, and put the game too far out of reach for the home team.
Streety only lost one faceoff, going 16-17 while
Garret Geraci (6-8)
Nathan Marcotte (3-5), and
Jonah White (1-1) also got to the X this afternoon. Zabbia and Kral each finished with three goals.
