PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – The Pace University men's lacrosse team had four players named to the USILA All-Region Team, announced by the association Monday. Senior midfielder Anthony Caputo (Westbury, N.Y./W.T Clarke) was named First-Team All-Region, while sophomore attack Daniel Zabbia (Dix Hills, N.Y./Half Hollow Hills West) was named to the Third Team. Junior midfielders Maxwell Streety (Orchard Park, N.Y./Orchard Park) and Alex Cenci (West Islip, N.Y./West Islip) were both named honorable mentions.
Caputo led the Setters in scoring during the 2023 season, totaling 32 goals and 26 assists for 58 points. He led the team with three game-winning goals this year and had a .311 shooting percentage while picking up 15 ground balls on the season. Caputo had his best game of the year on March 11, when he scored twice and added five assists for seven points in a 12-6 victory over Lynn University.
Zabbia was one of the highest-scoring players in the NE10 during the 2023 season, finishing second in the conference with 49 goals scored to go along with six assists for 55 points during the year. He led the team in shots, shots on goal and man-up goals, scoring nine times with a man advantage. He had 27 ground balls and eight caused turnovers, while scoring a career-high seven goals in a 16-11 win against Saint Michael's College on March 15.
Streety was one of the best in the conference in faceoffs in 2023, finishing 205 of 354 in that category (.579 faceoff win percentage). He led the team with 133 ground balls and caused three turnovers, while also scoring five goals and adding two assists on the offensive end. He had a faceoff win percentage of 50 percent or higher in 10 of Pace's 15 games this season.
Cenci was a key player for the Setters this year as a SSDM. He played in all 15 games this season, collecting 11 ground balls and forcing six turnovers. He also got involved offensively, scoring four goals while picking up three assists for seven points.
All four were key in helping Pace become one of the toughest teams in all of Division II this season, as the Setters were the No. 10 ranked team in the country on multiple occasions in 2023.
