Six Men's Lacrosse Players Earn All-Conference Awards

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – Six members of the Pace University men's lacrosse team were named NE10 All-Conference, announced by the conference Tuesday afternoon.

Senior midfielder Anthony Caputo (Westbury, N.Y./W.T Clarke) was named First-Team All-Conference, while sophomore attack Daniel Zabbia (Dix Hills, N.Y./Half Hollow Hills West) and junior midfielder Maxwell Streety (Orchard Park, N.Y./Orchard Park) were named to the All-Conference Second Team. Grad student attack Jake Veres (Robbinsville, N.J./Robbinsville) and junior midfielder Alex Cenci (West Islip, N.Y./West Islip) were named to the Third Team, and freshman defender Brian Brennan (Oceanside, N.Y./Oceanside) was named to the All-Rookie Team.

Caputo set new career-highs in every major offensive category this year. He recorded 32 goals and 26 assists for a team-high 58 points, while scoring three game-winning goals on the season. He tied a career-high with seven points in a game this year, hitting the mark in a 12-6 victory over Lynn University on March 11, in which he scored twice and added five assists. The senior had 15 ground balls on the year and caused four turnovers while picking up a .311 shooting percentage. His 58 points and 26 assists were good for second among all players in the conference.

Zabbia had a breakout year for the Setters in 2023. After playing in just seven games last year and scoring five goals with two assists, the sophomore exploded during his second season. He scored a team-high 49 goals for Pace, finishing second in the NE10 in that category. He led the conference with 153 shots, finishing with a .320 shooting percentage. He added six assists, 27 ground ball and eight caused turnovers, while scoring eight man-up goals for the Setters. Zabbia set a career high on March 15 against Saint Michael's College, scoring seven goals in the game.

Streety played in all 15 games for Pace this year, scoring five goals and adding two assists. He was second in the conference with 133 ground balls while causing three turnovers on the year. The junior had a strong year in the faceoff circle as well, winning 207 of 354 draws for a 58.5 winning percentage. He set a new career high in ground balls this season, picking up 14 on April 11 in a 20-14 victory over Assumption University.

Veres played in 11 games for the Setters in 2023, scoring 23 goals and adding nine assists for 32 points. He had a .411 shooting percentage on the season, while picking up six ground balls and forcing two turnovers. The grad student had a pair of man-up goals and scored three game-winners, including a goal in the final seconds to lift Pace to a 10-9 victory over Saint Anselm College on April 19. In the victory over Assumption on April 11, he set a new career-best, scoring seven goals in the game. Veres was a huge offensive force down the stretch for the Setters, scoring 17 goals and five assists over the final five games of the season.

Cenci played in every game for Pace this season, contributing on both ends of the field. He set new career-highs with four goals and three assists, while also setting new career-bests with 11 ground balls and six caused turnovers. He had two multi-point games this year and recorded a .400 shooting percentage.

Brennan played in 14 of 15 games for the Setters in his freshman year. He picked up 13 ground balls and forced 13 turnovers on the year, ranking third on the team in caused turnovers. He scored the first goal of his career on March 18 in a 16-5 victory over Georgian Court University.
