Box Score 2 CARSON, Calif. – Beginning an eight-game stretch in California, the Pace University softball team dropped a pair of contests to No. 16 Cal State Dominguez Hills on Sunday afternoon. The Setters were defeated by scores of 4-1 and 5-1 in the afternoon doubleheader.
Offensively, the Blue and Gold totaled four hits in each contest, all of which were singles. Sophomore
Brianna Shea (Oceanside, Calif./El Camino) and senior
Gwen Pederson (Sylmar, Calif./Granada Hills Charter) both went 2-for-3 in the finale, while
Haley Rusbuldt (Lakewood, Wash./Lakes),
Alexandra Tejeda (Diamond Bar, Calif./Diamond Bar),
Carolina Iturriaga (North Hills, Calif./Grover Cleveland), and
Arianna Guarracino (Middletown, N.Y./Minisink Valley) each tallied hits in the first game of the day.
Iturriaga recorded Pace's lone RBI on the afternoon following a single in the fourth inning of the opener.
On the other side of the ball, sophomore
Gisselle Garcia (Lemon Grove, Calif./Mater Dei Catholic) pitched well in a losing effort in the first game of the day. The California native struck out five while allowing four runs in six innings of action.
Junior
Anna Acevedo (Brooklyn, N.Y./Fontbonne Hall Academy) also allowed four earned runs and struck out five in the second game of the day.
UP NEXT
The Setters will play a doubleheader at Concordia University in Irvine, Calif. tomorrow evening (6 p.m.).
