MANCHESTER, N.H. – In the penultimate game of their regular season, the ninth-ranked Pace University men's lacrosse team suffered a 14-10 setback at No. 16 Saint Anselm on Wednesday. The loss shifts the Setters' record to 10-3 this season (6-3 in the NE10).
Â
After allowing just four goals and holding a lead at halftime, it was a tough second half for Pace. The Setters were outscored, 10-5, over the final 30 minutes of regulation.Â
Â
Senior goalkeeper
Louis Ragusa (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Yorktown) was stellar in a losing effort. Coming off a career-high 20 saves at Bentley over the weekend, Ragusa one-upped that with 21 stops on Wednesday.Â
Ragusa is now second in the NE10 in save percentage this season with a mark of 60.9.
Â
Offensively, it was a trio of Setters leading the way. Junior
Anthony Caputo (Westbury, N.Y./W.T Clarke) racked up four goals and an assist, while
Tim Cairo (Shoreham, N.Y./Shoreham-Wading River) (3G, A) and
Jake Veres (Robbinsville, N.J./Robbinsville) (2G, 2A) each recorded four points.Â
Â
Sophomore
Rafael Rodriguez, Jr. (Farmingville, N.Y./Sachem East) also found the back of the net in the fourth quarter for Pace.Â
