ORANGEBURG, N.Y. – Playing on the road for the first time this season, the 11
th-ranked Pace University men's lacrosse team tallied a 20-9 win at Dominican College on Tuesday. The decisive victory improves the Setters' record to 2-0 this year.
Up by just two goals after the first 10 minutes, Pace rattled off a 9-1 stretch in the second quarter to take complete control. The Setters continued the onslaught into the second half with their lead growing to as high as 13 goals.
Senior
Jake Veres (Robbinsville, N.J./Robbinsville) led the way with a career-high seven points off four goals and three assists. Graduate captain
Kyle Casey (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Yorktown) also registered four tallies for Pace, in addition to chipping in an assist.
Casey's five points were matched by junior
Anthony Caputo (Westbury, N.Y./W.T Clarke), who dished out a career-high four assists. Caputo also nabbed a career-best seven ground balls.
Following Casey and Veres, it was an impressively balanced attack for Pace. 13 different Setters notched at least one goal in the game, while 15 players finished with at least one point.
Senior goalkeeper
Louis Ragusa (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Yorktown) earned the win after allowing four goals with eight saves in 30 minutes of work.
