WORCESTER, Mass. – Following the third night of competition at the 2020 NE10 Championships, the Pace University men's and women's swimming and diving squads are each in fourth place in the team standings.
Women's Highlights (293 Points)
Junior
Annabel Keppel-Palmer (Kent, England/Maidstone Grammar School) led off Pace's strong night with her second silver medal of the championships. The England native finished second in the 400-IM with a time of 4:33.79.
Jana Ciric (Nis, Serbia/Gimnazija "Svetozar Markovic") tallied one of the closest finishes of the night en route to earning the bronze medal in the 200-free. The senior's mark of 1:53.56 was just 0.07 of a second behind second-place, and 0.38 of a second slower than the top finisher.
Freshman
Cristina Rosario Perez (Maunabo, Puerto Rico/Woodside Priory School) earned points in the 200-free as well, recording a 12
th-place finish with a time of 2:00.51.
Leigha Kosakowski (Selkirk, N.Y./Bethlehem Central) served as another one of Pace's top-scorers as she posted a sixth-place performance in the 100-breast (1:08.89). Freshman
Kalin Tang (Miramar Beach, Fla./Fort Walton Beach) also placed in the event, touching the wall in 1:10.29.
Pace's final event of the night also yielded success for the Blue and Gold in relay action. The Setters' squad of Keppel-Palmer, Kosakowski, Ciric, and
Marta Hasny (Kedzierzyn-Kozle, Poland/II Liceum Ogólnoksztalcace im. Mikolaja Kopernika) earned bronze in the 200-medley relay with a time of 1:48.10.
Men's Highlights (237 Points)
Filip Turecky (State College, Pa./State College Area) continued his sensational Pace career by earning a gold medal in a second straight NE10 Championships event. The junior registered the top mark in the 100-back on Saturday, touching the wall in 51.59.
Joshua Lozano (Helotes, Texas/O'Connor) also put together one of the Setters' top finishes of the night in the 400-IM. The Texas native placed fourth with a time of 4:13.55. Sophomore
Nicholas Lombardo (Staten Island, N.Y./Monsignor Farrell) also nabbed points in the event, winning the 'B' Final 4:18.91.
Samuel Gibson (Nassau, Bahamas/Saint Andrew's) swam to a fifth-place effort in the 100-fly, sprinting to a mark of 51.65.
Dessaniel Jaquez (Dobbs Ferry, N.Y./Dobbs Ferry) also picked up points in the event, earning a sixth-place finish in a time of 52.02.
Brian Bates (Norwell, Mass./Norwell) and junior
Alec Young (Loganville, Ga./Archer) put some points on the board as well for the Blue and Gold. Bates placed 11
th in the 200-free (1:50.86) while Young registered a ninth-place finish in the 100-breast (1:00.22).
