PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – In the second straight season-opener against Dominican College, the Pace University men's lacrosse team put together a 19-4 win over the Chargers on Saturday afternoon.
After Dominican scored the game's first goal, it was all Blue and Gold the rest of the way. Pace rattled off a 13-0 stretch to completely seize control of the contest.
Pace's onslaught against the Chargers was keyed by seven different multi-goal scorers. JuniorÂ
Joseph Diggle (West Islip, N.Y./West Islip) was the Setters' top point-scorer, notching two goals and four assists in the win.
Alan Singleton (Pierrefonds, Quebec/Pierrefonds Comprehensive) andÂ
Jake Veres (Robbinsville, N.J./Robbinsville) each put in three tallies of their own, while combining for 10 total points.
Bruno Surace (Wantagh, N.Y./Wantagh) also tallied a hat trick in the opener, while freshmanÂ
Anthony Caputo (Westbury, N.Y./W.T Clarke) dished out a trio of assists.
Terrance Day (Bay Shore, N.Y./Bay Shore) and
Adam Story (Middleton, Mass./Masconomet Regional) each put in two goals on the day, while
Patrick Mulcahy (West Islip, N.Y./West Islip) and
Marcus Ottaviano (Ontario, Canada/Nichols School)Â both recorded one tally.Â
Sophomore
Louis Ragusa (Yorktown Heights, N.Y./Yorktown), the reigning NE10 Rookie of the Year, earned the win in net. The Yorktown Heights native posted seven saves across three quarters of action.
The Setters have now won five consecutive season-opening contests, outscoring those opponents by an 87-36 margin.
