SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Sparked by a 16-1 run across the second and the third quarters, the seventh-ranked Pace University men's lacrosse team notched a 22-6 win at AIC on Tuesday night. The victory improves the Setters to 8-1 overall this season, and 4-1 inside the NE10.
Seven different Setters finished with multiple goals in the win, led by four-tally efforts from both
Tim Cairo (Shoreham, NY/Shoreham-Wading River) and
Connor Vercruysse (Yorktown Heights, NY/Yorktown).
For the third straight contest, senior
Daniel Keenan (Mount Sinai, NY/Mount Sinai) dished out five assists. He also added a pair of goals to finish with a team-high seven points.
Max Scandale (Port Jefferson, NY/Earl L. Vandermuelen) was also one of the Blue and Gold's top facilitators on the night, posting a trio of assists.
Wyatt Barfoot (Georgian Bluffs, Ontario/St. Mary's),
Paul Cenci (West Islip, NY/West Islip),
Paul Azzaro (Ponte Vedra Beach, FL/Ponte Vedra), and
Roman Fillyaw (Norwalk, CT/Brien McMahon) all rounded out the Pace attack with two goals apiece.
Freshman
Louis Ragusa (Yorktown Heights, NY/Yorktown) played the first three quarters in net en route to improving to 8-1 this season. He now stands with a goals-against average of just 6.48, and a save percentage of .649.
The Setters dominated the overall numbers in the game, earning a 41-16 edge in shots-on-goal and a 23-9 advantage in faceoffs. Â
