PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – The 11th-ranked Pace University men's lacrosse team began their final home stand of the regular season in dominant fashion, defeating Franklin Pierce, 21-7, on Tuesday afternoon. With the win, the Setters improve to 10-3 overall and 6-3 against the NE10.
Pace had 11 different goal-scorers in the contest, including five Setters that found the back of the net multiple times. It was a career day for sophomore
Joseph Diggle (West Islip, NY/West Islip), who racked up a team-high eight points on four goals and four assists.
Daniel Keenan (Mount Sinai, NY/Mount Sinai), Pace's leading point scorer for the season, had another five-point outing with four goals of his own and an assist. The senior has now recorded five or more points in eight of the Setters' 13 games this year.
Connor Vercruysse (Yorktown Heights, NY/Yorktown) played his way back into the goal column, scoring three times.
Vincent Vasheo (Wantagh, NY/Wantagh) and
Wyatt Barfoot (Georgian Bluffs, Ontario/St. Mary's) rounded out the multi-goal efforts with a pair of tallies each.
Bradley Paterson (Caldwell, NJ/Depaul Catholic),
Blake Balcaen (Webster, NY/Webster Schroeder),
Rawil Herrera (Stony Point, NY/Albertus Magnus),
Matthew Simone (Seaford, NY/Seaford),
Bruno Surace (Wantagh, NY/Wantagh), and
Walker Azzaro (Ponte Vedra Beach, FL/Ponte Vedra) each also found the back of the net for the Blue and Gold.
Louis Ragusa (Yorktown Heights, NY/Yorktown) made the start in net, making nine saves over his three quarters of work. Defensively, 12 different Setters caused turnovers, led by three from
Xavier Hardmon (Burlington, MA/Chapel Hill Chauncy Hall).
The Setters scored the first five goals of the game, ending the first period ahead 5-0 and never looking back. The Blue and Gold outscored Franklin Pierce in all four quarters, and led by as many as 13 at the end of the third period.

Pace closes out their regular-season home schedule on Saturday. The Setters will host Bentley University at 1 p.m. as the team honors the Class of 2019 on Senior Day.
