Men's Lacrosse's Tom Mariano Helps Chesapeake Bayhawks to MLL Championship

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – After leading the Setters to another 13-win season this past spring, Pace University Men's Lacrosse Coach Tom Mariano spent the majority of the offseason as assistant coach for the Chesapeake Bayhawks of Major League Lacrosse. Mariano's Bayhawks captured the 2019 MLL Championship on Sunday afternoon courtesy of a 10-9 win over the Denver Outlaws.

Mariano just finished his first year as assistant coach of the Bayhawks after a two-year stint as head coach for the Florida Launch. Mariano was named the MLL Coach of the Year in 2017 after leading the Launch to their first-ever Playoff berth.

Mariano's success in the MLL has mirrored his success with the Setters since he took over the program in 2013. Under his leadership, the Blue and Gold have put together a 57-35 record (.620) over the past six seasons. He was named the NE10's Co-Coach of the Year in 2017 following a season in which the Setters earned their first-ever berth into the NCAA Tournament. This past year, the Blue and Gold tallied the program's most wins in a season since 1999 (13).
