BETHPAGE, N.Y. – Competing for the final time in 2018, the Pace University cross country teams concluded their seasons at the NCAA East Regional on Saturday. The men's team finished in 16
th place, the best regional finish in program history. Meanwhile, the women ended the year with a team finish of 24
th.
Men's Results (16th Place, 472 Points)
The Setters' record performance was led by
Alec Valle (Newburgh, NY/Blair Academy). The freshman placed 76
th with a time of 35:53.50. Classmate
Sean Engelfried (Millersville, Md./Severna Park) was just three seconds behind Valle, placing 78
th with a final time of 35:56.90.
Killian McCole (Staten Island, NY/Monsignor Farrell) was next to cross for the Blue and Gold, with his time of 36:40.60 (91
st-place).
Izzeldeen Farraj (Staten Island, NY/CSIHS/McCown) placed 108
th with a time of 37:22.80, while
Ricky Harris' (West Harrison, NY/Harrison) 38:01.30 was good for 119
th.
While not amongst the top five qualifying team-finishes,
Ryan Oakes (Scarsdale, NY/Eastchester) also had a solid showing in the final race of his freshman year, placing 153
rd with a time of 42:09.30.
Women's Results (24th Place, 675 Points)
On the women's side,
Heaven Swan (Wingdale, NY/Dover) put the finishing touches on what has been an impressive rookie season. The freshman led the Blue and Gold with a 26:19.30 final time to place 115
th.
Just over 20 seconds later,
Camryn Podgorski (Brewster, NY/Brewster) finished in 121
st place with a time of 26:40.10.
Rachael Daniels (Collegeville, Pa./Perkiomen Valley) rounded out the string of three Setters finishing within a minute, clocking in at 26:59.80 in 130
th place.
Crystal Raines (Roosevelt, NJ/Hightstown) posted a time of 28:25.20 to earn 152
nd place.
Jessica Uben (Ridgefield Park, NJ/Ridgefield Park) followed closely behind, placing 157
th with a mark of 28:49.90.
Beyond Pace's top five,
Julia Presta (North Massapequa, NY/Farmingdale) placed 160
th after finishing in 28:56.40, while
Shea Cody (Shrewsbury, NJ/Red Bank Regional) closed out the Setters' season with a time of 30:20.90 and a placement of 168
th.
